CHALLENGE
The 110/15 kV power substation was originally built using a classic H5 configuration. It consisted of two line bays (directions Zgierz and Janów), two transformer bays with 25 MVA transformers, and one coupling bay. Due to the planned addition of a new cable line to the RPZ Brzezińska substation, intended to increase the capacity for connecting new energy sources from renewables, there arose a need to build a new 110 kV line bay at the RPZ Radogoszcz substation.
solution
To accommodate the incoming 110 kV cable line from RPZ Brzezińska, an expansion of the switchgear was planned, including an additional high-voltage line bay. The newly built bay was constructed using a classic system and equipped with a disconnect switch with earthing switch, circuit breaker, current transformers, and a 110 kV cable connector with earthing. The project included the installation of the new 110 kV bay in place of a decommissioned reserve bay in the H5 layout. An additional challenge during implementation was the requirement to perform works on an active 110 kV facility while maintaining all safety rules for this type of infrastructure.

SUMMARY

The project titled “Extension of the 110 kV Line Bay at RPZ Brzezińska in RPZ Radogoszcz” posed numerous challenges, including coordination and cooperation with the contractor for the 110 kV cable line in order to meet strict deadlines related to funding from the Cohesion Fund.
