The 110/15 kV Srebrna substation, commissioned in 2022, had only one 15 kV switchgear section with a limited number of feeder bays and could not accommodate all prospective customers. The rapid development of renewable energy sources—especially photovoltaic farms—forced the distribution company to expand the network. A decision was taken to build a second medium-voltage switchgear section to meet the new requirements. All work had to be carried out on an energised installation with very tight outage windows.
